Professor Olugbenga Okunlola
The President of Geological Society of Nigeria, University of Ibadan
The laboratory of Geochronology and Geodynamics that I visited at TSU is world class! It would be great if she helped African students do their research. We would like to send our promising young people to TSU, where they can learn new technologies.
Dr. Cole G. Kingsbury
Scientific Researcher
I initially visited Tomsk in September 2019 to participate in the 7th conference on Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs-7) while a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. During this conference, I went on a tour of TSU and Tomsk and found Tomsk to be a very welcoming city with interesting architecture and was further impressed by the analytical facilities that TSU offers its students and researchers. Now a scientific researcher here at TSU, I teach students about volcanoes and geological hazards, investigate ancient magmatic events and have been fortunate to take many geological excursions to amazing areas including the Altai mountains and the Tuva Republic.
National Research Tomsk State University
Tomsk State University (TSU) is the largest classical university in the Asian part of Russia and an acknowledged centre of science, education, and innovation. It was founded by the decree of Emperor Alexander II as the Imperial Tomsk University on the 28th of May, 1878.
Today, TSU is home to 15,000 students. The number of international students is continually increasing; currently there are more than 3,000 students from 70 countries.
